We utilize the IV Pillars Model © a new and innovative approach designed to address the specific needs of the Alzheimer's caregiver. This approach was developed by trained therapists and a board certified neurologist. The goal of the therapy is to provide a new perspective that informs the caregiver on how to effectively alter their interaction with their loved one suffering from a new Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Different than most guides that offer information about the disease, The IV Pillars Model © provides ways to maintain the personhood of the caregiver and patient while preserving communication. This is accomplished in approximately four or five therapy sessions by lowering reactivity, discovering the personhood of the patient, elevating the caregiver-patient relationship, and developing an action plan based on a new normal. As a result, anxiety is lowered and loving, non-verbal interaction is sustained.
